This is the site's first blog, here on this kind of strange Tuesday afternoon. I have been feeling the urge, as a long-time writer, to attempt to commit some of my many thoughts about sailing and social justice to the page, but haven't felt like a blog on the website can stretch in an many directions as I would want it to. But I think it is worth giving it a shot.

It would, of course, be helpful to know what you folks, those who've chartered with us, those who've contracted us for services, those who've contributed or are only interested, those who sail and them who wish to, those who serve on commercial vessel or towboats or tall ships or fishing skiffs, all my maritime and maritime-adjacent friends, family, and antagonists, would like to see out of this. Rumination on. bend? Hiccups underway, and how they were addressed? Sailing talk? Or social issues afloat, like Trump boat parades or Captain Herbert, the funkiest pontoon skipper to ever sail the Small Sea?

I am certain that it will evolve, and sometimes this poor scroll will pick up mere ramblings, the half-crazed shrieks of the Captain into the digital gale as the pressures of command force his worried eye upward, to the Marlingspike of Damocles dangling overhead. Perhaps other times I will be able to coerce friends and rivals to submit a guest entry. I would certainly like to have Captain Peragine recounting the stories of his youth here, sailing the Mississippi Sound and racing to Bermuda, or my other great hero in this, Captain Rose Witte (formerly of the

), to counter our small-pie escapades with her salty stories of sailing the tall schooners and square rigs.

I hope that, if nothing else, it serves as a written repository of the valuable experiences I have with all of you out here afloat. Come sail with us, and drop me a comment below to let me know what you'd like to see herein.

Until then, cheers!

Respectfully,

Captain David
